How to Upgrade License for Version 8.2 and higher?

For protection of our customers we have completely redesigned the structure and philosophy of license data generation. The license file is now encrypted with an asymmetric RSA cipher which has (until now) never been broken. Existing users have to regenerate their license in order to continue using Merak Mail Server.

Follow these instructions:

1. We assume that you have a registered previous version of Merak Mail Server (< 8.2+) installed on your computer.
2. Obtain the installation package of latest Merak Mail Server 8.2+ by downloading from the official website or from your local reseller.
3. Update your installation.

   Run the installation file (setup.exe) and allow the install wizard to proceed until you reach the free upgrade license dialog.

   The version update process copies all of the settings and data from your old version of Merak into the new version, leaving your original configuration untouched.

   

4. Now you are required to fill in the missing customer information (i.e. the organization's address, city and ZIP code).
5. If you are not connected to the internet at the moment of installation, click on the Off-line License Request button down the left side of the dialog.

   A pop-up window with copy-pasteable URL will appear.

   Copy the address and navigate to the URL when you connect to the internet.

   An e-mail message with the license and instructions will be sent to the e-mail address specified in the form.

   Follow the instructions in the e-mail. (re-run the installation and copy-paste the received license block to finish the installation).

   

6. If you are connected to the internet at the moment of installation, it is much easier to re-generate your license.

   Click on Request License On-line button located on right side.

   The installation wizard will automatically contact the license re-generator.

   Your current license will be analyzed and you will obtain the same license for new Merak version 8.2+

7. After the process you will see an information screen displaying the successful registration of your copy of Merak.

   

8. Click Next to continue with the installation of Merak Mail Server.
9. Your license was successfully regenerated.
10. You can check the License information in Merak Server Administration console License Information... button is located under Menu->Help->Licenses... . Refer to the picture below:
